Department of Medicine Helps Raise Funds to Support Local Seniors
APRIL 9, 2014 — The Mount Sinai St. Luke's and Mount Sinai Roosevelt's Department of Medicine recently joined forces with Lifeforce in Later Years (LiLY), a Manhattan-based nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for frail seniors in need, to sponsor the 2014 LiLY Legacies Awards Ceremony. This year’s event, which raised funds for LiLY’s ongoing innovative programs, honored the life and legacy of dancer, choreographer, actor, and artist: Geoffrey Holder.
Held on April 9th at The Interchurch Center in Morningside Heights, the star-studded celebration and benefit was attended by celebrities Bill Cosby, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, and Epatha Merkerson, and also included surprise performances by some of America’s best-loved entertainers. In addition, attendees were treated to a special showing of Geoffrey Holder: The Continuing Legacy, an exhibit of a unique collection of paintings by this admired Renaissance man.
Through its sponsorship of the LiLY gala and other related activities, the Mount Sinai Health System Department of Medicine acknowledges the invaluable contributions that older seniors provide to our local and extended communities. Our physicians and administration are committed to supporting the health and wellness of the members of these communities.
