DIABETES PROGRAM AT MOUNT SINAI DOCTORS FACULTY PRACTICE


The Diabetes Program specializes in the management and education for diabetes type 1 and type 2 patients, focusing on prevention and management of complications through tight control of glucose and cardiovascular risk factors. The program helps patients in the management of their diabetes through workshops which include general diabetes education, detailed nutritional counseling with carbohydrate counting, insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring. In addition, the program offers support for patients with pre - diabetes through a specialized diabetes prevention workshop and a personalized weight control program. Board certified endocrinologists work side by side a staff of certified diabetes educators to deliver state of the art evaluation and treatment.


Our Staff

The program is led by Jeanine Albu, MD, a highly experienced physician and the interim Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the Mount Sinai St. Luke's and Mount Sinai West, the chief of the Diabetes/Metabolism Clinic and the Endocrinology Fellowship Program Director. The program comprises clinical service and research components. It is staffed by skilled professionals, including endocrinologists, certified diabetes educators, advanced diabetes management practitioner, clinical and research fellows, PhD scientist, nutritionists, and research coordinators.
