The Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Program

IBS is a treatable condition that is characterized by symptoms of chronic abdominal pain or discomfort associated with an altered bowel habit, such as constipation or diarrhea or an alternating stool pattern. Nausea and vomiting may also be present. This functional bowl disorder is often caused by lifestyle, diet and stress.

Our IBS clinic, led by Jean W. Saleh, MD, a noted gastroenterologist and IBS expert, specializes in diagnosing and treating this disease. The team employs cutting-edge diagnostic techniques and offers the services of a nutritionist and a psychiatrist to help patients better manage IBS. A treatment program may involve prescription medications, nonsurgical medical procedures, stress reduction and lifestyle changes, including dietary modifications and the adoption of a daily exercise regimen.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact Dr. Saleh. He sees patients at two practice sites in Manhattan, including a location on the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side.
